Little League Legend Sean Burroughs Passes Away

Two-Time World Series Champion, Olympian, and MLB Star Dies at 43

Mourning the Loss of a Baseball Icon

The Little League community and the entire baseball world are in mourning this week as news broke of the tragic passing of Sean Burroughs, a two-time Little League Baseball World Series champion, Olympic gold medalist, and former Major League Baseball player.

Burroughs, 43, collapsed while coaching his sons' Little League team in Thousand Oaks, California on Thursday, according to multiple news reports. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later. The cause of his death is still under investigation.

Burroughs' legacy as a baseball player is remarkable. He was a member of the Tarzana Little League team that won the Little League World Series in 1984 and 1986. He went on to play for the University of Arizona and was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round of the 1998 MLB draft. He played seven seasons in the majors with the Phillies, San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, and Detroit Tigers.
