Early Life and Football Career

Alistair Murdoch McCoist MBE, known affectionately as "Ally," was born on September 24, 1962, in Bellshill, Scotland. His exceptional football skills were evident from an early age, and he began his professional career with St Johnstone in 1978.

Legendary Striker at Rangers

McCoist rose to prominence as a prolific striker for Rangers, where he played from 1983 to 1998. During his 15-year tenure at Ibrox, he scored an astonishing 362 goals in 585 games, establishing himself as the club's all-time record scorer. He was an integral part of Rangers' golden era under manager Graeme Souness, winning numerous domestic trophies and reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 1993.

Post-Football Career

After retiring from football in 1998, McCoist embarked on a successful career as a television pundit and manager. He has worked for various broadcasters, including ITV Sport, Sky Sports, and BBC Scotland, providing expert analysis and commentary on football matches.

Management Stints

McCoist also transitioned into management, serving as player-manager for Kilmarnock from 1998 to 2002. He later managed Rangers from 2011 to 2014, leading them to three Scottish Premier League titles during his tenure.

Beyond football, McCoist has diversified his career. He has appeared in several films, including "That Old Football Game" (2001) and "Highlander: Endgame" (2000). McCoist has also been a team captain on the quiz show "A Question of Sport" and hosted his own television show, "McCoist and MacAulay."
