Daniel Medvedev loses to Carlos Alcaraz in Madrid Open semifinals

Medvedev was defeated in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2

Alcaraz will now face Novak Djokovic in the final

MADRID, Spain - Daniil Medvedev's bid for a third Madrid Open title came to an end on Saturday as he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals.

Medvedev, who won the tournament in 2019 and 2021, was never able to find his rhythm against the in-form Alcaraz. The Spaniard broke Medvedev's serve three times in the first set and twice in the second set to win the match in just over an hour.

Alcaraz will now face Novak Djokovic in the final. Djokovic is a two-time winner of the Madrid Open, and he will be looking to add to his tally when he takes on Alcaraz on Sunday.
