Former Nigeria Coach Sunday Oliseh Blasts NFF, Resigns

Oliseh Quits As Coach Of Nigeria

Former Midfielder And Captain Sunday Oliseh Was Confirmed As The New Coach Of Nigeria

ABUJA, Nigeria -- Former midfielder and captain Sunday Oliseh was confirmed as the new coach of Nigeria on Friday and immediately launched a scathing attack on the countrys football federation, accusing it of administrative incompetence.

Oliseh, who played for Nigeria at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, said he had quit his post in frustration at the way the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was running the game in the country.

"I am stepping down from my role as coach of the Super Eagles with immediate effect," Oliseh said in a statement.

"I have taken this decision after careful consideration and with a heavy heart," he added.

Oliseh's resignation comes just days after Nigeria's disappointing performance at the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
